This installation work, Comfort is a Warm(ing) Blanket, is made of emergency blankets (as this is a time of emergency during the current pandemic, I find it a fitting material). Cutting out "COMFORT", I make use of positive and the negative cutouts - the positive reminiscent of a party banner, the negative maintaining the blanket reference - in locations where I hope their message will be seen and felt.

The flags are hung in multiple locations in Southern California. The largest number of them have been hung and left on the California State University, Northridge campus,

This beautiful campus, previously full of several thousand students a day, now is overgrown and mostly empty. I place the signs in locations that where once bustling, where the occasional visitor will be surprised and encouraged by the work.

"I Could Cry" is a site-specific installation. The lyrics are repurposed from Hank Williams, "I'm So Lonesome.”

Located in CSU, Northridge campus - Sagebrush Hall, off Plummer St. Best viewable at night.

There are no rainbows without human observers – an idea that touches on the essence of aesthetic experience. When it comes to the rainbow there is nothing physical, it is ephemeral and immaterial. There is no object you can walk around, approach, or touch. The experiential nature of a rainbow cannot be replicated, only approximated. This site-specific installation operates as a meditation of this experience, translating and giving form to the intangible.

Just as a rainbow only appears when the sun comes out after rain, Rainbow Cube has optimal viewing conditions. The surfaces of the cube are most vibrant and prismatic on cloudless days, especially in the morning and early afternoon when the sun is shining brightly. After the sun goes down, Rainbow Cube responds to artificial lighting conditions (such as a camera flash) to create intense holographic rainbows.
